Ping Time
& Other Tales of Revenge
“Revenge is the sweetest morsel to the mouth, that ever was cooked in hell.” So wrote Sir Walter Scott in the seventh of his Waverley Novels, The Heart of Midlothian. Here in this collection, served straight from hell’s kitchen, are two complete handfuls of such morsels; ten tasty tales of revenge for your decadent enjoyment.
The tales are populated by people who have wronged the author at some point in his life. There’s the company megalomaniac, who warrants two whole tales to himself. There are the patronising small-town elite, the family interloper, the swindling shopkeeper, the snobby neighbour and the greedy relative. And, of course, they include bullies and thugs of all shapes and sizes. By immortalising them in words, the author has taken revenge on all of his transgressors.
So come and meet them. Whet your appetite on these sinful morsels. Partake of the Devil’s fare.
